Harbour Church Belfast

About

Harbour is a church plant from Orangefield Church into the Titanic Quarter of Belfast. We’re a new worshipping community sharing the hope of Jesus with around half a million people in Greater Belfast who don’t yet know and follow him. We love our beautiful, historic and scarred city and want to humbly contribute something to renewal, peace and life here. We believe Jesus of Nazareth is the most compelling person who ever lived, and he offers a fullness of life in friendship with God that everyone was born for. Harbour is part of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.

Leadership

Harbour was planted by a team of 11, led by Jonny and Naomi Campbell. They are bi-vocational church planters; they have been with Alpha UK & Fields of Life respectively for the past 10 years.

APOSTLE'S CREED

We believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Amen

NICENE CREED

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

Amen

Our Mission

HOMECOMING

A harbour is for homecoming. In perhaps Jesus’ most famous parable, he tells of two boys estranged from their Dad. One is rebellious, the other self-righteous, but the beating heart of the story is simple. Whatever you’ve done, wherever you’ve been, just come home. Placing faith in Jesus is to discover the friendship with God that all human beings were made for and the offer still stands.

FORMATION

A harbour is a place of raising and building up. The journey of following Jesus is a lifetime of transformation towards holiness, freedom and peace. We’re committed to personal spiritual growth, community on mission and leadership development. Paul prays for the Ephesians that they will be rooted and established in faith: formed by decades of obedience in the same direction.

ADVENTURE

Finally, a harbour is a place of sending out. The soil of our city is alive with Celtic missionary heritage and impulse, Christians who once evangelised the entire continent of Europe. Our prayer is that God would do it again as we choose to believe in the latent potential of his presence mediated through ordinary people into homes, neighbourhoods, workplaces and families.
